Arsenal agree fee for Odegaard

Emirates Stadium

Arsenal have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £30m for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.

The Norway international spent the second half of last season on loan at the Gunners, scoring two goals and registering two assists in 20 appearances in all competitions. He was also voted the club’s player of the month in March after a string of impressive performances helped Arsenal progress to the Europa League quarter-finals and enjoy an unbeaten month in the Premier League.

Such performances led manager Mikel Arteta to emphasise at the end of last season that he wanted Odegaard to stay permanently, resulting in transfer rumours linking the two parties throughout the summer.

Odegaard is currently in London completing a medical. He would need to be registered before midday on Friday to be available for selection for Arsenal’s game against Chelsea on Sunday.
